on the horizon.

Since the first time I stood atop Burnt Hill back in the summer of 2016 — with the sun shining, breeze in my face, and the Appalachian Mountains stretched out on the horizon — I knew this hilltop was magic.

There was something about the landscape. The quiet. The feeling of standing on the edge of something wild and magnificent. It felt like a hidden paradise — rugged, beautiful, and alive.

Sure, it was a great place to grow grapes. But more than that, it felt like the perfect place to build something larger than life. I wanted to bring people into this magic. To create experiences here that would become part of their story — just as this land has become part of mine.

Burnt Hill Farm is a viticultural dreamland — a polyculture paradise shaped by steep slopes, rocky soils, and living energy.

Our hillside is underlain by shallow, skeletal soils weathered from phyllite — rock that drains beautifully and encourages vines to dig deep. Remarkably low in potassium, these soils naturally preserve acidity, giving our wines their unmistakable vibrancy, freshness, and ability to age with grace.

We farm this land by hand, in rhythm with nature, paying close attention to the small signals it offers. We harvest when the grapes tell us they're ready. We ferment with native yeast. We age our wines in ashwood foeders — crafted from trees grown right here on the farm. Every bottle is a love letter to this place.

But wine was just the beginning.

The question we kept asking ourselves was this: How do we share the full Burnt Hill experience?

How do we go beyond estate wine flights, garden snacks, and bread made from heritage grain grown and milled on site? How do we invite people not just to taste this place, but to feel it?

The vision has always been clear — to offer something elemental, something real. Campfires under the stars. Long tables set with simple, beautiful wine and food. The sounds of laughter and glasses clinking at sunset.

We wanted to create a place where people could slow down, connect, and take home more than a bottle — they could take home a memory. A feeling. A little piece of Burnt Hill.

That moment is almost here.

Soon, we’ll welcome guests to this wild, windswept farm to experience the magic we’ve felt all along — to taste wines grown in living soils, to gather around the table, and to feel the beauty of a farm built slowly, by hand, and in rhythm with nature.

We can’t wait to share it with you.

See you on the hill.
